[vid]how to play assassin
so i decided to jump on the posting vids bandwagon, and now proudly present my own contribution.
in this video, i demonstrate that to play a good assassin is more than just bringing a powerful build and mash buttons. hopefully you'll pick up on the tricks and tactics i employed. i purposely used the weakest assassin build i know (yes kids, it's the shove spiker. BEWARE!) to give myself a damage handicap, and force myself to not rely so much on the build, but to use positioning, terrain and other tactical elements to help me score kills.
youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht_IajHI0dg
be sure to click on the "high quality" option once it becomes available.
high quality version, courtesy of filefront: http://files.filefront.com/assassin2.../fileinfo.html
resolution is 840x524, 342.21 MB, compressed with XviD codec (so be sure to have that before viewing!). please actually download the file, because the streaming video compressed it quite heavily.
edit: and before anyone say it: yes, i did use the fruitiest music i could find.

I'm surprised Shove works so well but it's probably more due to the excellant positioning. Loved the mouse click positioning ownage. Did you use voice communication with your team?

The shove build is one of my favorites and can easily destroy people if you know what you're doing and more importantly what everyone else is doing. It sucks 9 times out of 10 unless if you know the exact moment there's a flaw in the enemy.

Shove sins are sick, alhough I dont run that build exactly. I rather use an enchant and golden pheonix for a higher damage chain (shove, falling, twisting, golden, blades of steel)

Playing sin in all arena's except HB is useless. For exemple in AB 99% of the professions can easily shut it down. As Ranger if you get killed by a Assasin, you are doing something srsly wrong. From the first 20 seconds I see you use shove immediatly after attacking a enemy. Everyone with brains dshotted it allready.

he is forced to do that because of his build (shove's cooldown and horn's conditional). that was his intention though. good job impressing noobs. btw excessive clicking is like starcraft players increasing their apm, also for impressing noobs.

99% of the professions can POTENTIALLY shut it down. whether that occurs or not is another story.
uploading highres version now. it's clear enough that you can read the texts.

You need to get used to it! There's absolutely no reason to WSAD in this game as mouse clicking confers too many benefits not to use it, and it also confers Chiizu dancing to melee classes like the Sin, so it's even better.
lol @ Cytherea as always.

Oh, I get it. You're taking my advice about the troll persona.

The program(s) that count APM don't count excessive clicking. YOUR POINT IS MOOT SIR.

and i play the same way no matter what i'm playing. of course, i'll be more aggressive when playing a warrior, far more defensive/evasive when playing a monk, etc. but the underlying style is all the same: why directly engage, when i can force my opponents to defeat themselves?
there are tons of tactical elements to take advantage of in AB. if i can use those elements to severely weaken my opponents before they can directly engage me and/or my teammates, then that's what i will do. it is the basic principle of war: maximize damage to your opponents, minimize damage to yourself. i'm perfectly content with forcing an opponent to first fight through the npcs, my teammates, and whatever else that can damage him while i kite in a circle. if he's not dead by the time i'm done, i'll fight whatever's left of him and win in an epic mismatch. damage done by my opponent: zero. damage done by me: complete and utter destruction.
sun tzu agrees btw:
"To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu, The Art of War
all that should be child's play. i'm kinda surprised that some people (cough cough) do not understand it.
btw, highres version is now available.

I doubt he knows who Sun Tzu is.
Judging by his name, he'll mistake him as a communist.
Btw, Filefront is sucking right now.

@moriz: you enjoy them creaming themselves watching you click 1000 times to walk in a straight line. that's fine and dandy but more efficient folks like to hold w.
you didnt gimp yourself that much, the build can still kill stuff. but im sure you're aware there are more powerful builds that allow you to kill more continuously and make less of a snoozefest video.

i tried to watch the video again with an open mind (unlike other forumgoers) but that is definitely not the feeling i get. the running and fruity music were too much.
